Amaravati, Sep 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Farmers of Amaravati are gearing up to launch a second 'Maha Padyatra' to demand implementation of the Andhra Pradesh High Court orders for development of Amaravati as the state capital.

Alleging that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government was taking no action to implement the court orders, the Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi (APS) decided to take out Maha Padyatra from Amaravati on September 12.

The Padyatra with the slogan 'Build Amaravati Save Andhra Pradesh' will conclude at Arasavalli in Srikakulam district on November 11 after passing through 16 districts. It is aimed at mounting pressure on the government to complete the constructions and infrastructure creation in Amaravati as ordered by the High Court on March 3 this year.

As the request of APS to the police to grant permission for the long march has not evoked any response, it has approached the High Court seeking direction to the Director General of Police and Superintendents of Police of 16 districts to give clearance.

The High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on the petition to September 8. The state government sought two days to file a counter on the petition following which the court adjourned the hearing.

APS Secretary Gadde Tirupati Rao contended that the inaction of the police in not giving permission for the Maha Padyatra was in violation of Articles 14 and 19 of the Constitution. He submitted to the court that the permission for the long march had been applied under Section 30 (2) of the Police Act, 1861, but there had been no response so far.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of various farmers' bodies met at Thallur on Tuesday to discuss ways to ensure successful conduct of the Padyatra. Farmers' leaders said their fight would continue to get justice for thousands of farmers who gave their lands for development of Amaravati but they were betrayed with the decision to develop three state capitals.

JAC convenor Shiva Reddy said during the long march they would educate people on how development of Amaravati was important for the state's development.

The meeting formed different committees, giving them various responsibilities with regard to Padyatra.

Last year, the farmers undertook a 45-day long Padyatra from Amaravati to Tirupati. Police had imposed various restrictions during the march titled Nyayasthanam (High Court) to Devasthanam (Tirumala temple).

APS said they decided to undertake another Padyatra as the state government had not changed its mind even after the High Court had ruled that the state has no legislative competence to split, bifurcate, or trifurcate the state capital. The court had ruled that Amaravati should be developed as the capital city and it laid specific timelines for the same.

A bench of three judges had pronounced the judgment on March 3 on 75 petitions filed by Amaravati farmers and others challenging the government's move for trifurcation of the state capital.

After coming to power in 2019, the YSRCP had reversed the decision of the previous TDP government to develop Amaravati as the only state capital. It decided to develop three state capitals - Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool.

This had triggered massive protest from farmers of Amaravati, who had given 33,000 acres of land for the capital and were hoping to reap its economic benefits.

The farmers, women and others have been protesting for the last three years.

Hyderabad, Sep 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was afraid of defeat in Munugode Assembly by election.

Sanjay claimed that he was also scared due to corruption allegations against his son and daughter.

He said that fear of defeat in the by-election has gripped the chief minister. He remarked that KCR has gone into depression due to his fears.

The BJP leader warned KCR against installing meters to agriculture pumpsets by taking the name of BJP. He said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) talks of meters at the time of elections.

Addressing a public meeting at Nizamabad on Monday, the chief minister had alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre was conspiring to install meters to agriculture pumpsets.

Sanjay slammed the TRS government over the death of four women due to the botch-up family planning surgeries. He remarked that a situation has been created where women are scared to undergo family planning surgeries.

The four women died after the surgery at a family planning surgery camp at a community health centre in Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district. Sanjay said such an incident did not take place anywhere in the country. He came down heavily on authorities for causing the deaths by performing 34 surgeries in an hour.

Holding Health Minister T. Harish Rao responsible for the incident, the BJP leader demanded that he should immediately be dismissed from the Cabinet.

Sanjay also alleged that the director of public health was facing allegations of corruption but CM KCR was not taking any action against him. Sanjay said the director of public health may be made MLA or MLC in coming days.

Hyderabad, Sep 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Telangana government on Tuesday clarified that immersion of Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) is prohibited in Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad as per the orders of the High Court.

However, authorities will allow immersion of clay idols in Hussain Sagar, the lake in the heart of the city. POP idols can be immersed in 31 lakes and 74 baby ponds across the city, it said.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made arrangements in this regard. As many as 280 cranes and 130 mobile cranes have been arranged.

More than 10,000 sanitation workers have been engaged to help with the immersion process.

The state government came out with the clarification to counter misinformation being spread across social media about Ganesh immersion in Hussain Sagar.

A series of tweets were made on Tuesday from FactCheck_Telangana, a Twitter handle of the state government to fact check misinformation.

The High Court, in its order dated July 21, 2022, has maintained that immersion of POP idols in Hussain Sagar is prohibited, starting this year.

Another tweet said that BJP state President Bandi Sanjay is spreading misinformation that Bhagya Nagar Utsav Samithi (BGUS) activists were arrested for demanding peaceful immersion and proper arrangements. "The fact is that police arrested them for conducting a rally without any prior permission. According to the City Police Act, such events require prior permission. Any violation will be treated as per the law. Further, due to the Assembly session in progress, prohibitory orders are in effect within a four-km radius around the Assembly," it said.

Sanjay mentioned that the activists were arrested for demanding immersion arrangements. In fact, GHMC officials stated that all advanced arrangements have been made for the immersion.

Hyderabad police on Tuesday morning foiled an attempt by BGUS leaders to take out a bike rally near Hussain Sagar.

Samithi, which organises the annual festivities, demanded that the government allow immersion like in the past without any restrictions.

It has given a call to all the Ganesh mandap organisers to line up the idols for immersion in Hussain Sagar on the final day, in obvious contravention of the Telangana High Court's orders and subsequent Supreme Court orders last year, prohibiting immersion of idols made of PoP.

Sanjay also threatened that if idols are not allowed to be immersed in Hussain Sagar, the organisers will be forced to carry the idols to Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister.

The nine-day festivities, which began on August 31 with the installation of thousands of idols, will culminate on September 9 with a massive immersion procession. Idols from various parts of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and outskirts are brought to Hussain Sagar for immersion.

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) A student who recently graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has allegedly committed suicide in Sangareddy town.

The 22-year-old victim, a native of Rajasthan, allegedly jumped to death from a lodge in Sangareddy town, near the IIT-H campus at Kandi.

The victim, who had completed B. Tech from IIT-H three months ago and was staying at the lodge, is suspected to have resorted to the extreme step on Tuesday night.

The body was shifted to the government hospital for autopsy.

The reason for the student's extreme step was not known.

Police said they have registered a case and launched an investigation.

The incident came barely a week after a student of IIT Hyderabad ended his life on the campus.

G. Rahul, a native of Nandyal in Kurnool district and a second-year M. Tech student, hanged himself in his hostel room on August 31.

The student's family suspected foul play. His parents were refused to accept that he died by suicide.

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti (BGUS) continued its protest in Hyderabad demanding the Telangana government to allow immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar like in the past.

BGUS leaders sat on hunger strike at Baheti Bhavan in Siddiamber Bazar on Wednesday. The samiti's general secretary Bhagwanth Rao, vice-president Rama Raju and other leaders were participating in the hunger strike.

The leaders of BGUS had tried to take out a bike rally at Tank Bund on Tuesday to oppose what it calls the restrictions being imposed on immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar lake.

Since there was no permission for the bike rally, police stopped the participants and took them into custody.

The BGUS continued its protest despite clarification by the government that immersion of only Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) is prohibited in Hussain Sagar as per the orders of Telangana High Court.

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Conservation and digitalisation of rare Urdu and Persian historical manuscripts at the Telangana State Archives and Research Institute will be taken up under a joint Indo-Iranian project.

The Telangana State Archives and Research Institute, Hyderabad on Wednesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard with Noor International Microfilm Centre (NIMC), of Iran's Culture House, New Delhi.

Under the MoU, Iranian centre will take up the repair, conservation, digitalisation and cataloguing of manuscripts and documents which are a common heritage between India and Iran.

This initiativeAwill bring millions of historical documents to life, and give future generations a glimpse of the state's rich heritage.

It will also be a valuable asset for scholars from other countries who regularly collaborate with Telangana State Archives for their research on medieval and modern history of India and Telangana.

The entire process will be done at no cost to the state and will be entirely borne by the Iranian government, Telangana government officials said.

One of the leading archives of India, the Telangana State Archives and Research Institute has a collection of rare and historical records dating back to 1406 AD pertaining to the Bahmani, Qutb Shahi, Adil Shahi and Mughal dynasties that ruled over the region.

The Institute houses more than 43 million documents, of which 80 per cent of the records are in the classical Persian and Urdu languages owing to it being the official languages of the erstwhile dynasties of the Hyderabad Deccan region. The records also include the original copies of GOs, gazettes etc of unified Andhra Pradesh from 1956 to 2014.

India and Iran have enjoyed a shared history which has influenced both cultures and civilisations. The documents housed in the Telangana State Archives are important historical artefacts of both countries. Hence, it is important to preserve this valuable joint heritage, officials said.

The MoU exchange ceremony took place at T-Hub Phase 2.0, in the presence of Telangana's Minister for Industries and Information Technology, K.T. Rama Rao and Iranian Ambassador to India, Dr. Ali Chegeni.

The event was also attended by Telanagana's Principal Secretary, ITE&C and Industries, Jayesh Ranjan, Director of State Archives and Research Institute, Dr. Zareena Parveen, NIMC Director, Dr. Mehdi Khajeh Piri, and NIMC's Regional Director for South Indian States, Ali Niroomand.
