Taking to Twitter, Rajinikanth shared an old picture of him playing chess and said: "#ChessOlympiad2022 An indoor game I love the most... Wishing all the chess minds the very best .. God bless."
In fact, Rajinikanth had only recently met young Indian Grand Master Praggnanandhaa and his family.
The young chess player had shared pictures of their meeting and had said: "A day to remember!!! Met Rajinikanth uncle today with my family! Inspired by his humbleness despite reaching great heights!"
Actor Vishal too took to Twitter to greet and wish those participating in the Chess Olympiad that is happening in Chennai until August 10.
Vishal said: "Wishing the very best to Team India and all the other participants of the Chennai Chess Olympiad 2022. Congrats to CM Stalin Sir and the Tamil Nadu government."
This is the first time that participants from over a 188 countries will be participating in a chess Olympiad in India.
Washington, July 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a historic move to end dependency on China when it comes to semiconductors, manufacturing and other technologies, the US Senate has passed a $280 industrial policy bill.
The measure passed 64 to 33, with 17 Republicans voting in favour, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
The legislation will now go to the House, where it is expected to pass with some Republican support.
US President Joe Biden, who has backed the package for more than a year, could sign it into law as early as this week, the report mentioned.
"The Senate passed a historic bill that will lower costs and create jobs. As Americans are worried about the state of the economy and the cost of living, the CHIPS bill is one answer: it will accelerate the manufacturing of semiconductors in America, lowering prices on everything from cars to dishwashers," Biden said in a statement.
The CHIPS bill, short for Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors for America Act, would provide $52 billion in subsidies and additional tax credits to companies that manufacture chips in the US.
It would also add $200 billion for scientific research, especially into artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, quantum computing and other new-age technologies.
Many senators, including Republicans, saw the legislation as a critical step to strengthen America's semiconductor manufacturing abilities as the nation has become perilously reliant on foreign countries - especially an increasingly vulnerable Taiwan - for advanced chips.
The bill will now head to the House, where lawmakers hope to pass it and send it to the White House for the President's signature before Congress leaves town.
"This is going to go down as one of the major bipartisan achievements of this Congress, along with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the recent gun safety law," said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY.
"The American people deserve to see more examples like this, of both sides coming together to do very, very big things that will leave a lasting impact on our country,a he added.
The Biden administration said that enhancing the chip industry at home will also help ease supply chain disruptions.

The actor, who was visibly touched by the gesture, distributed gifts to all the children and spent time clicking selfies with them.

Chennai, July 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Censor Board of Film Certification has cleared director Rathna Kumar's much-awaited entertainer 'Gulu Gulu', featuring actor Santhanam and Athulya Chandra in the lead, with a U/A certificate.
The film, a comedy drama, has triggered huge expectations, both among fans and film critics.
In fact, sources say that this will be Santhanam's biggest release in Karnataka.
Already, the film's satellite and digital rights have been sold. While the satellite rights have been acquired by Sun TV, the digital rights of the film have gone to Sun NXT.
Santhanam plays an interesting character called 'Google' in the film. He plays a person who is widely travelled and knows 13 languages. Yet, his English is broken. He gets bashed up in the name of doing social service but knows about almost anything and everything. What's more, he'll give everybody who asks him a question a clear cut explanation. That is why he is lovingly called 'Google'. However, everytime people call him that, all he hears is 'Gulu Gulu'.

Akkineni Nagarjuna Garu launches ZEE5 Original Web Series "Paper Rocket" Trailer
Amaravati, July 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader V. Vijayasai Reddy on Thursday claimed that Andhra Pradesh's finances are better than that of the Central government.
He said the financial position of Andhra Pradesh is also better than the financial position of many states.
Reddy said from 2019 to till now, the Centre's debts have gone up by 50 per cent while during the rule of the YSRCP in the same period, Andhra Pradesh's debts increased by only 43 per cent.
The YSRCP leader also alleged that the Centre is doing grave injustice to the states. He said the Centre was raising cesses and surcharges without giving the states their due share.
The Rajya Sabha member slammed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for comparing the situation of Andhra Pradesh with Sri Lanka.
"Andhra Pradesh will not turn into a Sri Lanka but Chandrababu may flee to Singapore like Rajapaksa," he said referring to the former Sri Lankan President.
Reddy noted that Andhra Pradesh's exports are much higher than the exports of Sri Lanka.
He said it was the TDP government headed by Chandrababu Naidu which went for indiscriminate borrowings between 2014 and 2019. He claimed that the state's debts during the period rose by 119 per cent while the Centre's debts had gone up by only 60 per cent.
Stating that Andhra Pradesh is ruled by an effective leader like Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said Naidu was deliberately spreading falsehood about the state.

Initially, the film, which went on the floors in Kumbakonam on July 25, had been called, 'Karumegangal Yaen Kalaiginrana?'
The film has been garnering attention for two reasons. Firstly, it will feature four well known Tamil film directors -- Bharthirajaa, Gautham Menon, S A Chandrasekar and R V Udhayakumar -- acting side by side.
Next, actress Mamta Mohandas, who was quite popular in Tamil cinema at one point in time, will be seen playing a pivotal role in this film.
Sources say that the unit auditioned several people across the country for the role of a character called Kanmani. However, they were dissatisfied and couldn't find an actress to fit the role. That was when the team chose to audition Mamta Mohandas and found her a perfect fit for the character.
The film's shooting will happen at Chennai and Rameshwaram, the sources say and add that the actors will be playing roles that they have never done before in this film.
Like most of his previous films, this film too will be based on a short story by Thankar Bachan.
