Chennai, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) A day after his birthday, Malayalam actor Mammootty on Thursday thanked all those who had wished him for his birthday, including actor Mohanlal.

Taking to Twitter, a moved Mammootty tweeted: "A big thank you to everyone who has sent me their love and birthday wishes. Each year, I feel the love keeps growing and I stand here humbled by all of you."

"Though I try, it isn't possible to reply to everyone. Kindly see this as a personal wish of thanks to each and every one of you," the Malayalam superstar wrote.

He responded personally to one particular birthday tweet. The tweet was by none other than the other top star of Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal.

Bengaluru, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Karnataka BJP leader N.R. Ramesh on Thursday held IT companies responsible for the floods and crisis situation that have arisen following heavy rains in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru has received 899 mm of rain in the last 3 months. This is the maximum rainfall in the last 50 years. "The companies are threatening the state government that they will have to be shifted to Telangana state. The state of Telangana is known as Naxal-prone state. The companies and employees will not be able to survive for a day," Ramesh stated.

Reacting to the warning given by IT companies through organisations that they would shift to Telangana, Ramesh maintained that they won't be able to operate in the state of Telangana which is Naxal-prone.

Ramesh, BJP President of Bengaluru South, responded to former Infosys director and entrepreneur T.V. Mohandas Pai's 'Save Bengaluru' campaign in an open letter. He slammed Mohan Das Pai's attempt to tarnish the image of Bengaluru in the crisis time by writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and carrying out a campaign on flood situation.

"You (Mohan Das Pai) have been carrying out the 'Save Bengaluru' campaign for 10 to 15 days, you have written letters to PM Modi and others. Social media campaign is also being undertaken. You have stated that IT and BT companies are contemplating to shift to Telangana state due to floods. During 1999, especially in Mahadevapura, Bommanahalli zones thousands of corporate companies started operating. The main reason being, Bengaluru was built above 3,000 feets from the sea level scientifically by then ruler Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda," he said.

"The other reasons are being the soft, cordial nature of the people of Bengaluru. During 1999 and 2004, for the benefit of IT and BT companies, the government did not collect tax for installation of OFC ducts in 4,500 kilometers of roads," he said.

The government did not charge for road digging and spent Rs 3,000 crore to provide free services at that time. Mohan Das Pai seems to have forgotten about this fact, Ramesh explained.

"We want to bring to your notice that IT and BT companies are also responsible for the flood situation in Bengaluru. By writing a letter to PM Modi, IT companies through their organisations have conducted in such a way that it has proved to be black mark on the image of the globally recognised city, which is also the only city to be built scientifically," he said.

"79 tech parks which come under Outer Ring Road Companies Association, more than 250 IT and BT companies under Electronic City Industries Association, more than 100 tech companies in Mahadevapura have encroached storm water drains at the time of construction. Infosys, Wipro, Biocon, Tech Mahindra, Tata Power, Bosch, IBM, TCS, HP and all other companies in the Electronics City have encroached upon storm water drains completely or narrowed them down," he stated.

"Knowing all these facts well, attempts are made to tarnish the image of the city. To evade tax to BBMP, under self-declaration of property tax system, a separate township has been created in the name of township. The companies are required to pay Rs 300 to Rs 400 crore as property tax. After getting all amenities from government agencies such as BBMP, BWSSB, IT companies have evaded Rs 400 crore tax money," he opined.

Presently, 3,758 IT companies, 92 BT companies, 79 tech parks are functioning in Bengaluru. More than Rs 2 lakh crore transaction is being carried out annually. As per CSR rules, the companies should have spent more than Rs 2,500 crore on CSR activities. IT companies have spent a few Rs 10 crore, he alleged.

Do not threaten the government, if IT and BT companies clear their encroachments, there will be a permanent solution to the flooding crisis in Bengaluru. Instead of blackmailing, behave judiciously and responsibly, Ramesh urged.

Participating in the recently held audio and trailer launch of the film, in which he plays the significant character of Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, the commander in-charge of the Tanjore fort, Parthiban said: "My character is as small and as significant as that of a page that serves as a bookmark."

Explaining what he meant by that, he said: "When we read a book, we usually fold the top corner of a page to let us know where we have stopped reading it. The mark, which usually helps a reader resume from that point on, actually splits the book into two parts. Similarly, my character in this film too, though small, will be significant."

The actor also went on to narrate a funny incident on the sets of 'Ponniyin Selvan'. He said: "Brimming with confidence gained from having spoken classical Tamil well in director Selvaraghavan's 'Aayirathil Oruvan', I tried to deliver a classical Tamil dialogue in a lengthy fashion to director Mani Ratnam.

"However, the director, who is known for his brevity, shot me down and instead asked me to keep it simple."

The actor, during the course of his speech, also congratulated actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who said he admired as Nandini on the sets of the film. "You have done a fabulous job," he complimented the actress.

Hyderabad, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Another woman has died of a suspected botched-up family planning operation in Telangana.

The woman was operated upon in a government-run maternity hospital at Petla Burj in Hyderabad. She was shifted to Osmania General Hospital after she reportedly developed some complication but succumbed while undergoing treatment.

However, the exact reason for the woman's death was not known. Director of Medical Education Ramesh Reddy rushed to Petla Burj hospital and held a meeting with the superintendent and other officials and doctors.

The officials have not yet come out with any statement on the cause of death.

The incident has been reported close on the heels of the death of four women after undergoing Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL) at a family planning surgery camp in Ranga Reddy district.

Thirty other women were treated in hospital for infection.

The women had undergone DPL at the female sterilisation camp conducted on August 25 at the Civil Hospital in Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district.

Four complained of acute gastroenteritis and died while undergoing treatment.

The government has suspended the licenses of the doctors who performed the surgery. It has also placed the superintendent of the hospital under lifetime suspension.

The government had also ordered an inquiry by the Director of Public Health Dr G. Srinivasa Rao.

The opposition parties have alleged that attempts to create a record by performing the maximum FP surgeries led to the deaths.

Yash's Rocky Bhai haircut and beard from 'KGF 2' has become the rage in saloons across the nation, according to industry sources. This kind of interest was earlier seen in the 1970s for Amitabh Bachchan's haircut when he ruled the box office with blockbuster movies.

Rameshwar Sen, who owns a saloon in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, shared the kind of response he is getting from customers for a Yash-style haircut and bread.

Sen said: "Rocky Bhai's haircut is the rage. It is the hairstyle that is trending nowadays. The customers are asking for it regularly. This kind of a craze for a star's hairstyle was visible only for Amitabh Bachchan's cut, which was famous in the '70s."

Apart from creating trends with his style, Yash went on to rule the box office with the biggest opening of Rs 54 crore in the Hindi market on the very first day. Hyderabad, Sep 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Massive security arrangements are in place here for the annual Ganesh immersion processions in and around Hyderabad on Friday.

As the day coincides with Friday prayers and in view of the recent disturbances witnessed over an offensive video posted by BJP MLA Raja Singh, police have heightened the vigilance across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and outskirts.

Over 25,000 policemen have been deployed in the limits of three police commissionerates -- Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda.

Additional security arrangements have been made in the communally sensitive old city of Hyderabad.

With Raja Singh remaining in judicial custody, police stepped up security in his constituency Gosha Mahal. A tight vigilance is being maintained in Mangalhat, Begum Bazar and other areas to prevent any untoward incident.

Over 40,000 idols will be immersed in Hussain Sagar and more than 50 other lakes and artificial ponds in and around the city.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said said tight security arrangements were in place for the immersion procession, which will start from Balapur and pass through various parts of the city to reach Hussain Sagar in the heart of the city.

For the first time the police commissioner and other top officials will monitor the festivities from the newly built state-of-the-art integrated police command and control centre.

As the procession passes through communally sensitive old city, police will keep a tight vigil along the procession route to prevent any untoward incident.

Top police officers will monitor the procession from the command and control centre through CCTV cameras.

The mammoth procession brings the entire city to a halt. Police have imposed traffic restrictions.

Liquor shops and bars will remain closed in the limits of all three police commissionerates.

Additional security measures have also been put in place due to row over immersion in Hussain Sagar lake in view of courts prohibiting immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols.

The government of Telangana has clarified that only idols made of clay will be allowed to be immersed in Hussain Sagar per the orders of the High Court.

POP idols can be immersed in 31 lakes and 74 baby ponds across the city, it said.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has deployed 280 cranes and 130 mobile cranes for immersion. More than 10,000 sanitation workers have been engaged to help with the immersion process.

The High Court, in its order dated July 21, 2022, has maintained that immersion of POP idols in Hussain Sagar is prohibited, starting this year.

The last couple of days saw Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) organising protests demanding the government to allow immersion of idols without restrictions.

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay had threatened that if idols are not allowed to be immersed in Hussain Sagar, the organisers will be forced to carry the idols to Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the chief minister.

Meanwhile, in view of the immersion processions on Friday, the state government has declared a holiday for all government schools and educational institutions in three districts -- Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri.

The ace editor, who is known both in Tamil and Malayalam film industries for his fine work in critically acclaimed films like 'Uriyadi' and 'Kurangu Bommai' in Tamil and 'Aanandam' and 'Godha' in Malayalam, took to Twitter to make the announcement.

He wrote: "I am getting back to Editing after the release of my debut directorial. Happy to associate with Althaf Salim, Ashiq Usman, Anend C Chandran & Justin Varghese for 'Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira' starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role."

The editor, who wished his followers a Happy Onam, also put out a poster of the Fahadh Faasil film in which he would be working as an editor.

Nayak's debut film as director, 'Mukundan Unni Associates', features popular Malayalam actor Vineeth Srinivasan in the lead.

The film is being presented by Suvin K Varkey and Prasobh Krishna and is believed to be a dramatic entertainer.
